The city of Dunedin is expecting to open their new 39,000 square-foot city hall located at 737 Louden Ave. in March. The current city hall, located at 542 Main Street, will potentially be transformed into a pocket park. Commissioners on Tuesday gave input on preliminary designs for the park and have given authorization for staff to proceed with the next steps to demolish the building.
The current city hall was built in the 1940’s. Because of the buildings age and the city wanting to preserve the large trees that are on the site, they will first rip up portions of flooring to determine how easily the slab of the building can be removed. Transforming the site into a pocket park has no funding, so the city will have to allot funds to go forward with the project.
